The Smart Energy Council has slammed the Liberal and National Parties for opposing a future made in Australia.
A/Chief Executive of the Smart Energy Council, Wayne Smith, said:
“It is unbelievable anyone would oppose a future made in Australia and it is unacceptable the Federal Coalition has put $23 billion of investment in Australia’s future at risk.
The Federal Opposition gets a zero for their commitment to net zero.
There is no business certainty with political uncertainty.
The Future Made in Australia Bill provides the foundations for Australia’s economic prosperity. It provides the basis for Production Tax Credits and other measures to support critical minerals value adding, smart energy manufacturing, renewable hydrogen and ammonia and green iron and metals projects in Australia.
Smart energy manufacturing, green metals and critical minerals value adding are Australia’s jobs and industries of the future.
These are jobs and new industries that will be created right across Australia and all of that is now at risk with opposition from the Federal Opposition.
With the world’s best solar and wind resources, innovative companies and skilled workers, Australia can lead the world in the trillion dollar global push towards net zero, but today all of that is at risk.”
Angus Taylor has long called for the axing or gutting of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA), so it was no surprise to see him attack ARENA in Parliament last night. Peter Dutton must distance himself from the attacks on Australia’s pre-eminent renewable energy agency.
The Smart Energy Council calls on the Federal Parliament to pass the Future Made in Australia Bill, with amendments to maximise the creation of new green jobs and ensure local communities reap the benefits of the jobs and industries of the future.”
