Solar Panel Decommissioning and Recycling Survey: Complete the survey and win a $100 Bunnings Gift Card

Solar installers across Australia are invited to take part in the Solar Panel Decommissioning and Recycling Survey, helping inform the design of a national approach to managing end-of-life solar panels.

Led by the NSW Environment Protection Authority (NSW EPA) with support from the Smart Energy Council, the survey aims to build a better understanding of current decommissioning and recycling practices across the industry.

The findings will help inform the design and development of a mandatory national solar panel stewardship scheme, supporting improved end-of-life management for solar panels and the recovery of valuable materials.

The survey was first introduced during the Smart Energy South Australia 2026 Conference, where installers demonstrated the value of contributing their practical, on-the-ground experience. Following the positive response from attendees, the survey is now open to installers across Australia.

The Smart Energy Council is encouraging installers to participate so the industry’s practical experience is represented throughout the development process.

Why participate?

The survey provides an opportunity for installers to:

  • Share their real-world experience managing end-of-life solar panels.
  • Help improve understanding of current decommissioning and recycling practices across the industry.
  • Ensure installer perspectives are represented as the stewardship scheme is developed.
  • Contribute to future solar panel recycling initiatives and end-of-life management pathways.
  • Go into the draw to win a $100 Bunnings Gift Card.

The survey takes around 10 minutes to complete. Participation is voluntary, and respondents may skip any questions they do not wish to answer. All responses will remain confidential and will be used to inform future solar panel recycling initiatives and improve end-of-life management pathways.

Complete the survey

If you’re a solar installer, we’d encourage you to take a few minutes to share your experience and contribute to this important piece of industry research.

Complete the survey by 31 July 2026 and you’ll go into the draw to win a $100 Bunnings Gift Card. One eligible participant will be selected at random from all completed survey responses submitted during the promotional period. Please refer to the survey Terms and Conditions for eligibility and prize draw details.
