Zero Carbon Hydrogen Australia (ZCHA) applauds the release of Australia’s 2024 National Hydrogen Strategy from the Federal Government.

As a division of the Smart Energy Council (SEC), ZCHA recognises that the Strategy is a crucial

milestone in positioning Australia as a global leader in hydrogen and we’re proud of our work on the advisory group that helped shape the roadmap.

“Australia is poised to become a global hydrogen powerhouse, and the 2024 National Hydrogen

Strategy is mission critical in making that a reality,” said Joanna Kay, General Manager of ZCHA.

“Green hydrogen is a central driver along our path to becoming a renewable energy and critical mineral superpower, and underpins a Future Made in Australia.”

“This will unlock more of the country’s world-class hydrogen potential and pave the way for new, large-scale clean energy exports.”

The 2024 National Hydrogen Strategy is a clear roadmap for decarbonising both existing and

emerging industries, from green metals and chemicals to industrial applications. By harnessing

Australia’s abundant renewable energy resources, it positions the country as a major player in the global clean energy market, driving economic growth and enhancing its reputation as a stable and trusted trading partner.

“We are seeing strong enthusiasm from investors, businesses, and communities, which gives us further confidence that Australia is leading the charge in developing a world-leading hydrogen industry,” Joanna Kay said.

“With strategic Federal Government programs such as Hydrogen Headstart and the Hydrogen Production Tax Incentive, Australia is attracting major investment and creating jobs, particularly in regional areas.”

“New policies like the Hydrogen Production Tax Credit and the expanded Hydrogen Headstart

program further solidify Australia’s position as one of the most attractive environments for green

hydrogen production in the world.”

“This strategy, along with sector decarbonisation plans and the Guarantee of Origin scheme, provides a robust framework for the rapid growth of the hydrogen sector.”

Zero Carbon Hydrogen Australia are excited to collaborate with industry, government, and communities to seize this opportunity, ensuring Australia remains at the forefront of the global hydrogen revolution and secures a prosperous, net-zero future.
