Peter Nattrass joins The Smart Energy Council Board

The Smart Energy Council has welcomed Peter Nattrass to its Board following his appointment at the recent Annual General Meeting.

Peter is Principal Advisor – Energy and Future Mobility at the Royal Automobile Association of South Australia (RAA), where he is the organisation’s spokesperson on energy and future mobility. He brings extensive experience in renewable energy, transport policy and electrification.

A qualified town planner, Peter worked in development assessment and urban sustainability at the City of Adelaide before spending six years at the South Australian Department for Energy and Mining.

During that time, he led delivery of South Australia’s Electric Vehicle Action Plan, the design and contract award for the state’s first statewide EV charging network, and the Green Iron and Steel Strategy and international Green Iron Expression of Interest.

The Smart Energy Council CEO David McElrea welcomed Peter’s appointment.

“Peter brings valuable experience across energy, transport and government policy. We look forward to his contribution as we continue advocating for our members and a more affordable, secure and electrified Australia,” David said.

Peter’s work focuses on the fuel security, health, safety, productivity and cost benefits of electrification. His particular interests include EV-ready homes, bidirectional charging, the integration of vehicle and home energy systems, and the electrification of mining and freight.

“I am incredibly honoured to share that I have been appointed to the Smart Energy Council Board,” Peter said.

“Australia’s transition to a clean, renewable energy future has never been more critical.

“I look forward to collaborating with my fellow board members, the SEC team, and our members to drive impactful advocacy, innovation, and sustainable growth across the sector.

“Thank you to Smart Energy Council members for this opportunity.”

Peter’s experience will support The Smart Energy Council’s advocacy on renewable energy deployment, energy security and electrification across homes, businesses and industry.
