SEC submission to DCCEEW
Date: 7th July 2026
Submitted to: DCCEEW
Short Description
The Smart Energy Council provided a submission to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water’s public consultation on the Exposure Draft and Policy Position Paper for the National Environmental Standard for Community Engagement.
Our recommendations encourage DCCEEW to establish a clear evaluation framework for verifying pre-referral compliance, deliver an integrated compliance toolkit harmonised with the First Nations Engagement Standard, maintain a performance-based interpretation of alternative evidence pathways and clearly define the boundaries of commercial-in-confidence protections.
This submission will inform the final guidelines of the Standard to ensure Australia successfully and sustainably achieves its target of 82% renewable energy by 2030.
