International Delegation Program to drive real business outcomes at Smart Energy 2026

Sydney, Australia

The Smart Energy Council, together with the Renewable Energy Council Asia Pacific (RECAP), in partnership with the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), has launched an International Delegation Program for overseas delegates attending Smart Energy Conference & Exhibition 2026 in Sydney.

The initiative is designed to help international delegates convert their attendance into meaningful business outcomes by facilitating stronger connections with Australia’s rapidly evolving smart energy ecosystem.

The program will run across three days from 5–7 May 2026, complementing the Smart Energy Conference & Exhibition (6–7 May), and will support delegates through targeted engagement opportunities including business matching, introductions to Australian companies, and access to relevant industry connections aligned to their commercial interests.

Smart Energy Council Chief Executive John Grimes said the initiative is focused on delivering practical outcomes for both international delegates and Australian businesses.

“This is where the whole Australian smart energy ecosystem comes together and we want to make sure international delegates can turn that into real business opportunities,” Mr Grimes said.

“We’re providing a free program of support to help delegates connect with the right companies, have the right conversations, and achieve real outcomes.”

The International Delegation Program is open to overseas delegates already attending Smart Energy 2026, and also invites Australian companies to register their interest in connecting with international participants.

Australian businesses will have the opportunity to outline their capabilities and areas of interest, enabling more relevant and targeted introductions during the event.

“This is about people-to-people connections, real business meetings, and creating outcomes that matter for companies on both sides,” Mr Grimes said.

Delivered by the Smart Energy Council and RECAP, and supported by Austrade, the program reflects a coordinated effort to strengthen international engagement and support trade, investment and collaboration in the energy transition.

An optional VIP Delegation Package will also be available, offering additional tailored engagement opportunities such as curated business matching, market briefings, site visits and targeted networking.

Smart Energy Council CEO John Grimes has also recorded a short video outlining the opportunity and encouraging participation in the program.

International delegates and Australian companies interested in participating are encouraged to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) here.
