The Smart Energy Council has thanked outgoing Director Andrew Dickson for more than five years of service on its Board, recognising his contribution to transport electrification, industry collaboration and renewable energy deployment.
Andrew completed his term at the recent Annual General Meeting. Throughout his time on the Board, he brought extensive knowledge, enthusiasm and industry connections to the organisation, with a particular focus on electric vehicles, commercial freight and maritime decarbonisation.
He played a leading role in developing Freight Forward, our national summit on commercial vehicle decarbonisation. The summit brings together industry, government and other stakeholders to explore practical pathways to electrify freight and reduce transport emissions.
Andrew thanked the Smart Energy Council and said, “Having been a Platinum member of the Smart Energy Council for many years and having experienced first hand the value it creates for the renewables sector, it has been a privilege to serve for the last 5 years on the SEC Board.“
“It was a very formative half decade, with a transition to new leadership and a maturing of governance and systems which set the SEC up for even more impact over the years ahead,” Andrew said.
Andrew has also championed cleaner maritime transport, including electric ferries, port electrification and wind-assisted shipping. His Churchill Fellowship examining opportunities to decarbonise shipping reflects his commitment to finding practical solutions for sectors where reducing emissions presents significant challenges.
The Smart Energy Council CEO David McElrea thanked Andrew for his leadership and generosity throughout his tenure.
“Andrew has been a thoughtful and committed member of our Board, bringing practical ideas, valuable industry insights and a willingness to help,” David said.
“His contribution to Freight Forward and his advocacy for transport electrification have helped strengthen our work and connect people across the sector.
“On behalf of our Board, staff and members, I thank Andrew for his service. We look forward to continuing to work with him in the years ahead.”
Beyond his transport work, Andrew made a significant contribution to The Smart Energy Council’s activities in South Australia, generously sharing his time, expertise and industry connections.
His willingness to offer advice, contribute ideas and support the organisation’s work has been valued by fellow directors and staff.
The Smart Energy Council thanks Andrew for his contribution and wishes him every success in his future endeavours.
