Short Description
The Smart Energy Council provided a submission to the Australian Energy Market Commission regarding Package 2 of the Electricity Network Regulation Review, focused on network investment, risk and emerging sources of electricity demand.
We support timely investment in critical transmission infrastructure but emphasise that unnecessary costs and risks must not be transferred to households and businesses.
Our recommendations include maintaining strong regulatory oversight, addressing network investment incentives, appropriately managing transmission delivery risks, and ensuring large loads such as data centres contribute to the network costs their demand creates.
