The Smart Energy Council congratulates the Queensland Government on its announcement of the Supercharged Solar for Renters program re-opening today.
The $26.3 million committed to the program will allow for an expected 6,500 rental households to benefit from solar savings.
David McElrea, the Smart Energy Council’s Chief Advocacy Officer says, “we know renters are those most in need of cost of living relief, and getting access to bill-saving solar is difficult without government support.”
“The re-opening of the solar for renters program that started under the previous government is a great development from Treasurer Janetski.”
“Following Premier Crisafulli’s commitment to continue this program for four years during the election campaign, we look forward to seeing this investment expand to assist renters across the state, especially capturing those living in apartments who are currently excluded under the program.”
“This program puts Queensland alongside Victoria and New South Wales as the best place for renters to reduce their power bills – it’s time for the other jurisdictions to take note of the success of these programs.”
The Smart Energy Council welcomes a strong inspection process for installations completed under the program, encouraging a high standard across the industry.
