Amplifying Australia’s Voice in the Global Energy Transition: SEC at Climate Week NYC – Day 2

Amplifying Australia’s Voice in the Global Energy Transition

At Climate Week NYC, world leaders are confronting the urgent challenge of climate change. John Grimes, CEO of the Smart Energy Council, continued his mission to champion Australia’s renewable sector, ensuring it is recognised in global climate discussions.

UN Roundtable: Powering the Future

On Day 2, John participated in a high-level UN-hosted Roundtable on “Powering the Future: Building Inclusive and Robust Clean Energy Markets” inside UN Headquarters.

Discussions focused on the structural, financial, and policy challenges facing emerging economies — and how to design clean energy markets that are both inclusive and resilient. John shared insights on how Australia is accelerating the energy transition, and how Smart Energy Council members are contributing to responsible climate action globally.

    John Grimes said:
“The urgency is undeniable — but so too is the opportunity. These discussions make clear that inclusive, resilient clean energy markets will only be built through collaboration, and Australia must be at the forefront of that effort.”

The takeaway from Day 2: Building inclusive and robust clean energy markets requires global collaboration — and Australia is ready to play its part.
