The Smart Energy Council congratulates the millions of Australian households that are doing the heavy lifting in our nation’s energy shift to cheap, clean power.
“Installation of the 4 millionth solar system at a home in Sydney today is a huge achievement for this industry,” Chief Executive John Grimes said.
“We thank the solar installers, manufacturers, retailers and most importantly millions of solar households who’ve helped reach this milestone.”
“Now that we have 4 million homes with solar, what’s needed next is for us to reach at least 1 million homes with solar batteries by 2030.”
The Smart Energy Council’s NSW Manager Leigh Heaney joined Federal Energy Minister Chris Bowen in Winston Hills this morning to commemorate the 4 millionth solar install, and thank the government for its ongoing support for households looking to save money for their families through solar.
“4 million households, around 1/3 of Australian homes, have installed solar and have seen the benefits to their household budgets,” Mr Heaney said.
“What we know is if you put solar on your rooftop today, you will save money on your energy bills tomorrow.”
“This year the Smart Energy Council celebrates its 70th anniversary,” Mr Grimes said.
“It’s so pleasing to see the solar industry develop to this extraordinary level, where it is the largest clean energy employer in Australia.”
