Smart Energy Council Wins Prestigious IABCA Australia–India Impact Award

The Smart Energy Council is honoured to have been named winner of the IABCA Australia Impact Award – Organisation 2025, announced during the India Australia Business & Community Alliance (IABCA) Gala in Mumbai as part of the 2025 India Immersion Week, 8-13 September 2025.

The IABCA Awards celebrate excellence across business, community, culture, innovation, and leadership, with winners recognised in 12 categories. This year’s highlights included the Lifetime Achievement Award to cricket legend Steve Waugh AO for his contribution to the Australia–India relationship, and the Large Business of the Year Award presented to Tata BlueScope Steel.

The Australia–India Impact Award recognises organisations and projects that significantly strengthen bilateral ties, whether by expanding operations, building collaborations, or delivering projects that bring lasting value to both nations.

John Grimes, CEO of the Smart Energy Council, said: “Our journey with India began in August 2022, and in just three years we’ve seen extraordinary momentum. Together with our valued international members and partners, we’ve helped lay the groundwork for major renewable energy programs now being implemented in India. This award is a powerful recognition of what collaboration can achieve and it inspires us to go even further.”

Scott Hamilton, Senior Advisor and Director at the Smart Energy Council, added: “India and Australia are natural partners in the clean energy transition. This award reflects not just past achievements, but the enormous opportunities ahead as we continue to work together on shared solutions that accelerate the shift to smart, renewable energy.”

Receiving this award underscores the Smart Energy Council’s deep commitment to fostering international collaboration – especially with India – as part of our mission to accelerate the global transition to smart, renewable energy.
