Smart Energy Council and Terrapinn announce new partnership to grow Smart Energy Conference and Exhibition

Sydney, Australia – Today the Smart Energy Council (SEC) and Terrapinn announced a new long-term partnership to accelerate the growth and impact of the Smart Energy Conference & Exhibition – Australia’s leading and longest running event for the solar, storage and renewable energy sectors.

For more than six decades, Smart Energy has been the central gathering point for installers, manufacturers, innovators, investors and policy leaders driving Australia’s clean energy transformation. The 64th Smart Energy Conference & Exhibition will be held on 6–7 May 2026 at ICC Sydney.

Under the new arrangement Terrapinn will lead the exhibition’s operational delivery as part of its globally recognised Solar & Storage Live portfolio.

The Smart Energy Council will shape the strategic direction and high-level conference program, champion our members, and define the priorities of Australia’s renewable energy industry.

Positioning the Event for Its Next Phase

This partnership brings together SEC’s policy leadership and deep industry connections with Terrapinn’s global scale and exhibition expertise.

Greg Hitchen, CEO of Terrapinn, said:

“Smart Energy is a standout event with a proud history and a strong industry community. We are excited to work alongside the Smart Energy Council to support its continued growth and to connect the Australian market more deeply into our global Solar & Storage Live network, (which includes major events in twenty international locations).

John Grimes, Chief Executive of the Smart Energy Council, said:

“Our annual conference has always existed to serve the industry and accelerate the energy transition. This partnership ensures the event is well positioned for its next chapter – with the SEC completely focused on our core mission and impact for our industry.”

John Grimes has recorded a short video message to provide further context on the partnership and its significance for the industry. You can watch here.

Continuity and Confidence for the Industry

Under this partnership:

  • The event will continue under the Smart Energy Conference & Exhibition brand.
  • SEC will retain strategic program oversight, industry convening leadership and content direction, ensuring the event remains anchored in our mission and member priorities.
  • Terrapinn will lead professional event delivery and investment, bringing global scale, operational excellence, international reach and commercial expertise.
  • Members and partners will benefit from expanded exhibition opportunities, stronger international participation, enhanced delegate experience and increased global visibility.

For organisations already contracted to exhibit, sponsor or participate in the 2026 event, all existing agreements and arrangements remain unchanged. The SEC team will continue working closely with you, alongside Terrapinn, to ensure a seamless and successful experience.

We look forward to sharing further details in the coming weeks and to welcoming you to the next Smart Energy Conference & Exhibition at the ICC on 6–7 May 2026 – delivered in partnership and built for the future of our industry.

Ends.
