Smart Energy Council Executive Member FoxESS joined the broader smart energy industry in marking the installation of 500,000 home batteries under the Australian Government’s Cheaper Home Batteries Program, while reflecting on the company’s growth and contribution to Australia’s expanding household battery market.
The milestone was recognised at an event hosted by the Smart Energy Council and RKS Energy Solutions, an authorised FoxESS retailer, in Castle Hill, Sydney, on Friday. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen, Smart Energy Council CEO David McElrea and FoxESS Australian Brand Ambassador Ian Thorpe joined industry representatives for the occasion. FoxESS CEO Michael Zhu and [add the names and titles of other FoxESS team members present] also attended. Managing Director for APAC & Middle East, Brooks Richard Geng.
Since the program began on 1 July 2025, Australian households have installed around 14 gigawatt hours of battery storage, with approximately 2,000 batteries now being installed each working day.
The Cheaper Home Batteries Program is targeting more than two million installations by 2030. The Australian Government has expanded its original $2.3 billion commitment, allocating $7.2 billion over four years to support continued household battery uptake.
The 500,000-installation milestone recognises the combined work of households, manufacturers, distributors, retailers and the installer workforce that has supported the program’s rollout across Australia.
For Fox ESS, the milestone follows 14 months of growth in the Australian market, during which the manufacturer has worked with retailers, installers and industry partners to respond to rising demand for household energy storage.
The company has expanded its local presence, introduced new products for Australian households, including CQ7 High Voltage Battery, H3 Plus Hybrid Inverter and A Series EV Charger [add relevant product names if you would like], and continued to build its sales, technical support and after-sales capabilities. FoxESS now operates offices in Sydney and Melbourne, supported by a local service team of more than 50 people.
FoxESS has also expanded its global manufacturing capacity, opening a second factory in June to help meet growing demand for its battery storage and smart energy products. The Phase II site spans approximately 46,000 m² and is designed to support intelligent, large-scale manufacturing, reinforcing Fox ESS’s long-term commitment to low-carbon energy solutions and international growth.
Olympian and FoxESS Australian Brand Ambassador Ian Thorpe said he was proud to see the company contributing to Australia’s household energy transition.
“FoxESS is now No. 1 in the Australian market, and I’m proud to be their brand ambassador, helping Australians make the most of renewable energy at home,” Mr Thorpe said.
“We’re backing a future where Australia can run on the abundant resources we have, especially our renewable ones.”
The company’s growth has included serving a broad section of the residential market as more Australian households consider batteries as a way to manage electricity costs, make greater use of rooftop solar and gain more control over their energy use.
As Australia’s household battery market continues to grow, Fox ESS plans to build on its local presence by supporting its retail and installer partners, expanding its product offering and strengthening the service available to households adopting solar and battery storage.
