eLumina Global Launches Advanced Battery-Integrated EV Charger

Australian battery energy storage and charging company eLumina Global has unveiled the DS400, a battery-integrated electric vehicle charger (BIEVC) delivering 400 kW of charging power while drawing less than 70 kW from the grid.

The system uses energy stored in a 350 kWh liquid-cooled LFP battery to boost the charging power, enabling ultra-fast charging in areas where traditional fast charging stations would not be practical, avoiding the need for expensive and time consuming grid upgrades.

Solving Regional Charging Challenges

“The battery acts as a buffer with small input but large output,” explains the company. “This allows rural and regional areas to access advanced EV charging capabilities utilizing existing grid infrastructure.”

The system supports charging up to six vehicles simultaneously, with intelligent power management software dynamically allocating available power to meet charging demand.

Technical Capabilities and Flexibility

The DS400 operates in different configurations: on-grid or off-grid, with the option of direct solar PV input, enabling deployment across diverse locations throughout Australia. The DS400 converts previously impractical locations into functional charging sites, with potential to fast-track extensive national charging networks throughout regional highways and remote communities.

Broader Portfolio and Vision

Beyond the DS400, eLumina Global showcased its smaller D3 BIEVC charger which has been designed in Australia. The company is getting ready to enable EV travel along 1,400 km of off-grid highway in Western Australia in 2026 using these products.
