Annastacia Palaszczuk appointed International Ambassador with Smart Energy Council

The Smart Energy Council is honoured to announce that former Queensland Premier, Annastacia Palaszczuk, has been appointed as International Ambassador with the Council.

Ms Palaszczuk led Queensland for 8 years and laid the foundations for that Government to implement Australia’s most ambitious emissions reduction and renewables targets. Ms Palaszczuk is the longest serving female leader in Australia’s history.

Ms Palaszczuk will use her extensive experience as a head of government and her passionate commitment to renewable energy and net zero emissions to build partnerships between Australia and other countries, helping deliver smart energy solutions to the world.

Ms Palaszczuk’s first act will be to lead the Smart Energy Council’s industry delegation to China from 10-16 June 2024.

Annastacia Palaszczuk said, “I have always had the greatest respect for the work of the Smart Energy Council. I admire their passion and commitment to building a smart energy future.”

“Australia can and must be a renewables and critical minerals powerhouse, working closely with other nations to help decarbonise the global economy, and with the Smart Energy Council. I look forward to helping make that a reality.

I know she will be a powerful voice for Australia’s smart energy industry as we strengthen our industry partnerships across the globe.”

The Smart Energy Council is the peak independent body for Australia’s renewable energy and renewable hydrogen industries.
