SOFAR Opens Sydney Experience Center, Marking a New Chapter in Australia

Office space, a product experience centre and a laboratory come together to support installers and partners

SYDNEY, 26 October 2026 — SOFAR opened the SOFAR Australia Experience Center at its new Australian headquarters in Smithfield, Sydney, on 23 October. The site is SOFAR’s first to combine office space, a product experience centre and a laboratory under one roof. The opening reflects the next stage of the company’s Australian operations as it builds on its residential presence and expands its focus on commercial and industrial energy storage.

The occasion also marked SOFAR’s welcome as an Executive Member of the Smart Energy Council. The Council’s CEO, David McElrea, presented the Executive Membership certificate to Lawrence Wang, Global Marketing Director of SOFAR. The membership strengthens SOFAR’s engagement with the Council’s industry advocacy and collaboration activities across Australia’s solar and storage sector.

At the opening, Wang emphasised Australia’s importance to SOFAR’s long-term development and the role of its local partners. In a conversation with McElrea, he explained that the centre gives installers and retailers a place to see products firsthand and speak directly with local service and technical teams. Feedback from these conversations can help SOFAR better understand local needs and inform product and service development.

For installers, the Experience Center offers a setting to examine equipment, ask technical questions and discuss applications before making recommendations to customers. The on-site laboratory is ready for product testing and practical training in installation and electrical connection. Together, these facilities support product evaluation and technical learning, with access to local SOFAR staff.

Sunsavers Group, SOFAR’s Australian distribution partner, joined the celebration. Its Managing Director, John Liu, highlighted the importance of dependable support beyond installation and throughout a system’s life. The new centre provides a shared setting for closer engagement between SOFAR, its partner and the installers and businesses they serve.

Other speakers included Daniel Stow, Trade Commissioner at the Fiji Consulate General and Trade Commission in Australia, and Sameer Pandey, Councillor at the City of Parramatta. Stow spoke about opportunities for collaboration, while Pandey highlighted the value of enabling customers to see energy technology firsthand.

The opening took place ahead of All Energy Australia, held in Melbourne on 28–29 October. At the exhibition, SOFAR presented its expansion from residential applications into commercial and industrial energy storage at Booth DD113 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. Its PowerIn presentation featured the CBS9000 battery cabinet range paired with HYD hybrid inverters. The Sydney headquarters supports this direction by bringing product experience, testing and technical training together with local team engagement.
