ADELAIDE, 28 April 2026 — Tindo, Australia’s only manufacturer of solar panels, today marks 15 years of continuous operation from its Mawson Lakes facility in South Australia.
Since producing its first module in 2011, Tindo has delivered Australian-made panels to homes, businesses and commercial projects across the country, weathering a period defined by price compression, supply-chain disruption and the near-total offshoring of solar manufacturing.
The company now enters its next chapter with expanded capacity, new product lines and an order book underpinned by rising demand for locally made, long-life solar.
“Fifteen years is a long time in solar PV,” said Richard Petterson, Tindo Chief Executive Officer. “The industry has been continually reshaped and manufacturers around the world have come and gone. We’ve built through every cycle because our customers told us something simple: they want panels that perform, warranties that mean something and a manufacturer they can call directly. That’s what we’ve stood for since day one.”
Tindo’s longevity reflects a deliberate focus on quality and sovereign design and engineering. Every panel is engineered, manufactured and tested in Adelaide using top quality componentry, and processes validated against Australian conditions. This approach delivers field performance and durability that continues to set the benchmark for locally installed solar modules. The company’s warranty position remains among the strongest in the Australian market, reflecting confidence in long-term output.

The 15-year milestone arrives as the federal government sharpens its focus on domestic renewables manufacturing through the Future Made in Australia agenda, which resulted in a $34.5 million Solar Sunshot industry assistance package from ARENA in 2025. ARENA’s package allows Tindo to expand its Adelaide factory to 180MW output per year, and to fund a feasibility study to build a new ‘Gigafactory’ capable of producing up to 1GW of Australian-made solar panels per year. The expansion funding comes as installers, integrators and commercial buyers increasingly prioritise lower-risk domestic supply with meaningful warranties and product support.
Tindo’s operational expansion and product quality has been driven by a unique workforce that has been developed over a decade-and-a-half, and includes expertise in management, design, engineering, sales and marketing, and niche production skills that in Australian industry are found at Tindo’s factory in Mawson Lakes. The constant upskilling and retraining of the Tindo workforce has allowed the company to stay at the forefront of global technology developments and is also reflected in high employee-retention rates.
“Resilience is not survival,” said Mr Petterson. “It’s sustained performance under pressure. Our panels are built for the harsh Australian conditions, just as our business is built for the long haul. After fifteen years, we are built stronger than ever and our plans are for further growth to meet the demand for quality solar panels.”
To mark the 15th anniversary, Tindo will roll out a national campaign across trade and channel media throughout 2026, along with partner activity at its Mawson Lakes manufacturing facility.
