Climate Capital Forum

Australian impact investors, businesses, philanthropists, think tanks, renewable energy industry and climate NGOs launch a blueprint for Australia’s reindustrialised renewables-led future.

An Australian Response to the US Inflation Reduction Act

In August 2022, President Joe Biden signed into law the US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), a $370 billion USD investment in countering climate change through renewables. Cleantech innovators have since flocked to the United States to reap those incentives.

The Smart Energy Council in collaboration with the Climate Capital Forum hosted the Australian Renewables Industry Summit in September 2023, calling for a $100 billion investment for an Australian Renewables Industry Package.

This transformative package could propel Australia into realising its potential as a renewables and critical minerals superpower. That pathway is outlined in the Climate Energy Finance and the Climate Capital Forum’s paper: An Australian Response to the US IRA.

DISCUSSION PAPER

The Climate Capital Forum was established to keep Australia in the game as we race to Net Zero, plotting Australian renewable energy investment on a strategic course to decarbonise our economy. Taking an empirical approach to Australia’s renewable energy investment environment, providing advice to departments and leaders – helping Australia to realise its potential as a renewable energy and critical minerals superpower.

A Renewable Energy Superpower

In December 2022, eighteen Australian industry leaders gathered at Ethinvest’s boardroom in Sydney – awed by the pace and scale with which the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) was turbocharging innovation and investment in climate solutions.

There the Climate Capital Forum emerged, a champion for Australia’s strategic renewable energy investment frontier.

Time To Act

As the 1980s saw the modernisation of the Australian economy, the 2020s must see our economy’s decarbonisation.
