Quotes

JOHN GRIMES, CEO Smart Energy Council

“The Smart Energy Council strongly welcomes the Prime Minister’s comments that Australia should be a renewable energy superpower.

Australians can make things here.

We can produce the cheapest electricity right here using solar and wind, and as a result produce some of the cheapest products in the world. We can produce green iron, green ammonia, green steel, right here in Australia.

Australia can play a key role in the solar panel and battery manufacturing supply chain, adding value to our critical minerals, through to building products right here in Australia.

The Smart Energy Council is looking to the federal budget to lay the foundations for Australia to be a renewables and critical minerals superpower.

For too long Australia has been a dig and ship country, in the future we can value add to those minerals and export zero carbon iron, and other products to the world.

This is hugely exciting. This is exactly the sort of vision that the Smart Energy Council has been looking for and we’re really looking forward to seeing the details in the lead up to, and in the budget.”
